The sun shone through the window of the man's house, forcing light past eyelids into Roy's eyes, making him groan and roll over. He yelped as his action took him to the floor, causing a small thud. Sighing, the man got up, righted his covers, and got ready for the day.
With a cup of coffee, imported from Brazil, he left his cozy little home and headed for work.

Violet ran up to the man with blonde hair, looking up at him with eyes that many felt were unnatural, a bright violet color like her mother's. Hey, Mister! she exclaimed, Did you drop this? she asked, showing him a bright silver coin.
Vi! Rube said, grabbing her daughter's hand. I'm sorry, sir. she told him, nodding. She's too friendly for her own good. Is this yours? she asked, gesturing to the coin. Violet must've found it. she said, kissing the top of her daughter's head, and looking around for Livi. There she was. Rube snaked an arm around the silver haired girl's waist, pulling Livi towards her.

Roy smiled; he was quite fond of children. "Perhaps at one time, miss, that coin was mine," he replied, "but now the child has the coin. She can keep it, if she likes." He pulled out another coin equal in value and handed it to the other child with a wink. "No playing favorites, eh?"

Violet's eyes went wide. Thank you! she exclaimed, before looking to her mother to make sure it was alright. Ruby was strict about strangers, and always had been.
Ruby smiled down at her daughter. Thank you, sir. You've made their day. Smelling the slight smell of fish the man carried, she said, Do you spend a lot of time at sea?
I was born on a ship! Violet exclaimed.
