Jay looked at Emma, fear etched deep into his eyes. "Those who call the souls on..." he whispered shakily. "Predators become prey, and prey becomes the predator...." He moved his hand away, looking out at the sea with the same frenzied gaze. "And so the circle begins..." And then he collapsed onto his knees, leaning against the side of the boat.

Emma gasped, she looked over at the crew, but didn't have time to wait for help. Emma determinedly grabbed up Jay, and started to drag him to her Cabin herself. Emma's eyes welled up with tears as she heaved the man upon her shoulders, which lowered her crouched body close to the ground, but Emma didn't seem to notice. As Emma tried to move the Lieutenant her legs gave out and she shrieked as the body fell on top of her. Emma collapsed as her failed attempt to move Jay soaked in. Emma felt foolish, her crestfallen eyes rested on Jay's body, thought of a few ideas that might cure Jay, but Emma was out of remedies and teas. All she could think of was the last time they talked and how she screamed at him. Her heart lurched, she wasn't feeling too good. Emma's stomach lurched, she needed to sit down. Emma's surrounding grew fuzzy as she saw figures race up to her, she figured it was the crew, " I just need to rest a moment." she whispered, and fainted.
((Sorry, I was feeling very dramatic, this is like my third draft of my post.))

Leon held out his arms and gently took hold of Ruby as she stumbled into him. His nerves shook then and he tried to remember what it was he had wanted to ask her, then the presence of the box in his pocket reminded him. Ruby I... He was interrupted as the door swung open and Jay stumbled onto the deck. He knew that his lieutenant was not well enough to be out having spoke to Emma about him this morning. He looked over, then back at Ruby, he saw Emma going to Jay and half carrying him back the the doors. He gave a small sigh and tried again to speak but nothing came out, his nerves stealing his voice. Then he heard a loud thump and he turned his head to the direction of the sound. It looked as though Emma had fainted and Jay was lying on the deck. He rushed over, his mind crying out at his robbed chance. He knelt down next to Emma and gently shook her shoulder, unsure what to do in such circumstance.

Rubes heart was racing; why was Dagger nervous? Were the twins safe? Her eyes flicked to his face in alarm, still full of unshed tears. And then a commotion involving Jay and Emma occured, and Rubes was frozen in fear a moment, worried for the safety of her kin. Then Leon left to help Emma and she awoke from her daze. She was as unsure as her captain, after all, Emma to Rubes had confided the night before that she was out of herbs and remedies. She panicked for a moment, then strode to Dagger, controlling her panic like she had several months ago, when she gave birth to Vi and thought she was going to die. She told Dagger softly, Have the ship full speed towards land. We don't have anything to help them on board. She hoped he wouldn't question her knowledge. She gestured Cody over. Help me lift him off her, she needs to breathe.

Cody had watched the incident in horror, confused and slightly amused when Emma tried to pick up Jay. He did not completely understand what was happening, and how serious the situation really was. Cody followed Rube to the man and girl under him. Cody hid a grin ((Stupid boy)) as he mustered up the strength to pull the Lieutenant off the poor woman. Cody reached his arm around Jay's back to his front and linked his hand with the other that was snaking around the man's chest. Cody pulled with all his might, dragging the man off of the petite, fragile girl under him. He would be surprised if the girl didn't get some sort of injury from the fall and weight.

Jay woke up slightly, instinctively slamming his elbows into Cody's ribs so the boy released him and spinning around, whipping out a knife and holding it up to the boy's neck. He blinked, realized who it was, and the dagger ((AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH ...-cough- sorry)) clattered to the ground. He leaned over slightly, panting and pressing a hand against his pale face. He just as quickly spun around again, his gaze falling on Moongrave, and then to Emma. Still breathing hard, he fell to his knees, waving the others away and leaning over her. "Emma...Emma..." he wheezed, panicking slightly, pressing a palm against her cheek. For one unsettled moment, he saw Kemi instead of Emma, and the shop instead of the ship. His heart froze for a minute, and then he saw Emma again. Now he really panicked. "Emma!" He cried, grabbing her shoulders.

What the hell is going on around here?! Rubes muttered to herself. She smiled at the profanity that she had used, but went back to being frusterated quickly. She turned to Jay, anger bright in her eyes. She watched him with Emma. She's fainted, you foolish man! And why? Because of your stubborn piggishness. she exclaimed to Jay. Go to bed, that's what you can do to help her.... she was trying to do her job and you're interfering. Let her play doctor, and you patient. You make me sick... ((excuse the pun.... hee, hee!)) Rubes said, spitting at the man's feet. She's supposed to be taking care of my potentially ill children, and look! She's out here, fainting because you won't listen to simple orders.

Emma moved slightly, mumbling about the noise. She soon realized where she was and what had happened and sat up quickly. Wrong move. Not only did her body protest so severely, her head grew light and dizzy. Something in her body didn't feel right, and she didn't like it.
"Rube, your kids need to leave now." she said, "Get away from the boat and it's sickness...I..I.. think Vi, since she is at an early stage of the fever, or illness... she can fight it better on land" Emma tried to finish off her thoughts, but she had to lie back down. Emma closed her eyes, about to pass out, but suddenly her eyes flew open. Emma sat up straight again and pointed harshly to Jay, who was worriedly hovering over her, "And you!!! You trouble making brute! Get back to your bed, I'll be back to check on you sooooon..." Emma's last word came out slow and slurred, for she was laying back down, her eyelid growing heavy.

Leon didn't know how to react to the chaos happening around him. He had automatically put one hand on Ruby's shoulder to try and calm her when she shouted at Jay. Suddenly he jumped towards the wheel barking order at the crew to move to the land as quickly as possible. He was going to evacuate the ship best he could, leaving himself and those with the sickness on the ship. This sickness seemed bad, so bad it may be the end of The Howl, those left on board dying here and the ship drifting into the deepest depths of the ocean.

Jay looked up at Ruby, eyes wide, and then back at Emma. What had he been doing? He sat back, looking back at Ruby. Who were these unfamiliar people? And why did he have an urge to start shouting orders, even though his head pounded? He did any way, leaping to his feet before leaning over and scooping Emma up. "This girl is sick! Can't you idiots see that? Where's the doctor?!" he shouted.

Hearing Jays cry, Leon ran back. He gently placed a hand on Jay's shoulder, Hey Moon, calm down. Emma is the doctor remember? He was careful to use Jay's ship name whilst in the presence of the crew.

Rubes shook her head in frustration and left the scene, down below decks to get her twins. She slung one on each hip, kissing first Livi's forehead, then Vi's. Ruby ascended the steps to the main deck and managed to very slowly open the door (for her hands were filled with children) and reenter the confusion that was occurring. She ignored everything as best she could, for her frustration had evaporated upon receiving her darling offspring, and just looked at the beautiful daughters she had. Ruby remembered why she was leaving, it was these two. There couldn't be a more worthy cause. She found a corner of the ship, opposite of Emma, Leon, and Jay, and sat leaning against it, with the two girls nestled in her lap.
Vi snuggled against mother and her sister, yawning. She was awakened from a half sleep at the noise from Father and pretty Emma and the lieutenant that she was named after, though she didn't know it yet. Violet Jay was tempted to cry, and looked to Livi. If Livi should began to cry, Vi would too.

Livi gave a squirm of protest until she was settled in Mothers arms. She leaned in close and promptly fell back to sleep, nothing about the chaotic scene seeming to bother her.
