I think it's for the best too, but I'll miss you dearly. It's been six years on the Howl and I don't know how I'll survive even a little bit of time without her... Without you. she said. She...she did? That's great! Olivia, first to walk, and 'Letty, first to talk. I wonder when Livi will speak her first words... and what they will be. How sweet... Dad. she said, smiling from ear to ear. I understand why you didn't tell me right away; you've got a ship to run, Leon. That's why... that's why I didn't ask you to come with us. she said, shrugging. She knew he had responsibilities to his ship, and the crew.

I would love to come with you, I wouldn't hesitate to but... Leon's gaze turned to his ship and the crew milling about on deck. He couldn't leave them, if he left the ship, it would be for good. He sighed softly.
Suddenly Leon moved to the wheel and took it, steering them towards Kaiden, We should be there before sunset.

Cody walked by , whistling a tune with his hands in his pockets. Cody stopped next to Rube and tapped his foot to the rhythm of the song. He looked over at the mother and stopped whistling abrubtly. "Something wrong, Rubes?" he asked, his cheerly face freezing into worry.

Rubes looked at the departing Dagger with disappointment- but she knew what his answer was going to be before he even uttered a word. She tried to silently convince herself that it was nothing personal, but had trouble doing so. Pirate life came first for Leon; being father must have come somewhere after that in his list of priorities.
She was looking down at her small feet with a sadness uncharacteristic to Rubes when another tapping pair joined them. She heard his whistling stop and a worried inquiry asked, and it took her a moment to process both actions- her head was muddled and she felt thick in a fog. But a look into his violet eyes cleared her mind, and she grabbed his hand as though they were childhood friends, her cool fingers entwined with his strong, larger hands, and her arm brushing his. Words came slowly, laced with disappointment, Yes. Something is wrong. Emma... Emma thinks it's best for me and the twins to leave the ship for a while... their immune systems can't handle this fever. We're to stay in Kaiden until it passes and it's safe for them. I don't know how I'll live without this ship. I love all the crew so much, even those who don't return my affections. she said, thinking for a moment about Jay. And what about us? I need your charm, your humor, and your reliability. I'll miss you terribly, Cody. she continued. Around Leon, she had to be responsible and strong. With a best friend, she could ask to be consoled and Cody would make her feel better instantly. She didn't need to have a strong, hopeful face against her troubles. That was the job given to him, and she returned the favor as needed.
((I forgot that Coco was godfather for a moment there, and if you still leave ship with Rubes, he'll pretty much serve as their father figure, helping her care for them and what not...))

Cody looked startled and confused as Rube finished her sad story, "Wait...who says I'm going to leave you behind? There is no way you and your minis' are going to go anywhere without me." Cody replied matter-o-factly.

Rube's eyes were surprised and amazed at the loyalty the boy displayed to her and her children. R-really? she asked, instantly delighted. I would love you to join us. she said, elated. After a moment's consideration, she said, A good friend would insist you stay here, you know. she told him, her tone not revealing any regret. But I'd much rather have you with us... and I know the twins adore you. she said, laughing. I'll show you all around Kaiden, and find you a steady job. With your skills in sewing, it won't be hard. she said, pausing for a breath. She hugged him tightly. I should have known you would come.... I should have known you wouldn't leave me. What a friend, what a friend. she whispered into his ear. She still couldn't believe that her apprentice was taller than her; where had the fifteen year old boy she had met gone? In his place was a man, and he could be called nothing else.

Cody smiled warmly as he embraced his only true friend. It wasn't as if he had anyone else to live for, anywhere his friend went, he followed. Cody looked down at Rube after the hug, "Maybe we could open up a sewing shop together." he teased, but he couldn't help feeling hopeful.

She bit her lip with a playful smile. We could, you know. With your talent and my money, we'd have the business underway in no time. her tone was playful, but her eyes excited. Ruby had always wanted to run a business, and with her family's noble status, the business might flair- for instance, if her mother wore one to court. She squeezed his hand. How exciting! she squealed. Leaving the Howl seemed more possible with prospects of business and her young friend by her side.

Leon had to fight the urge to find Jay and tell him he was leaving, he knew that he couldn't this ship was his life, but so was Ruby and the twins. The internal battle age inside of him as the ship turned towards land. For more than a moment, he debated swinging the ship back and sailing out as far as possible from land and refusing to move, but that would endanger the lives of his family and his crew. He handed the wheel over, giving instruction to go the Kaiden before he could take that idea and make it a reality. He slunk slowly back to his quarters where he sat behind his desk and let the tears flow freely. They cascaded down his cheeks in a never ending show of emotion that he would never permit anyone to see. He reached out and opened a drawer, searching through pages of paper for something to do, something to keep his mind off the sorrow of the possible loss of his love and his daughters. His silver-hued gaze was drawn to it, a small black velvet bag, half hidden at the bottom of the drawer. The tears stopped suddenly.
Lifting his head, Leon checked around the room and listened to be sure that no-one was outside of or approaching his quarters before he took the bag from the drawer. Gently, his fingers worked the small knot loose and opened the bag. Carefully, he tipped the bag, allowing the contents to spill onto his opened palm. He had bought this the last time they had been ashore but it hadn't seemed...the time. In his palm was a small black velvet box, the same velvet of which the bag was made from and it was fastened with a tiny golden clasp. He unclipped it and opened the box, revealing the contents. A shaft of sunlight through one of the small windows glinted off of the gem sitting atop the small golden band. It had cost him but any expense was worth her. He gave a small smile as he placed the ring back into its box. Then he stood, placing it in a pocket of his jacket, the bag left discarded on his desk as he left his quarters on a search.

Cody's eyes glimmered with hope, "You think?" he asked, his mind already on his future home and life. He hadn't realized the change might be good for himself, he had been on the ship for two years, though they went by relatively fast. Maybe it would be best for him to have his feet on solid ground for a time.

((OH... MY... GOD!!!! YAY! Rubes is going to FREAK OUT! You know how anti-commitment she is... but she's def going to accept.))
Rubes smiled. Yes, I do. she said, squeezing his arm. She looked past him, in an eastern direction, where land would eventually appear. She would finally be leaving. Leaving. A tear traced its way down the woman's cheek. Woman. Rubes had grown up on this ship, turned fully and irrevocably into an adult- though in spirit and heart she remained as young and pure as a child. She had joined the Howl when she was only 19, well experienced with menfolk, but not with love. Or at least romantic love. No one and nothing could, or ever would, stop Rube's from loving people. Captain Leon Dagger was her childhood sweetheart, then her friend, then her lover, then the father of her children, and now all of those things at once. She would miss her Captain dearly, that was for certain. And she would miss Roxy, and Lulla, and Nia, and even Jay. Even Jay. Rubes already felt 'shipsick', even though she was still on the Howl. Only a few short hours remained. She spun around quickly, her eyes full of tears, about to brush past Cody into the Hold, but instead nearly running into Leon. She hastily wiped her eyes, and smiled weakly, staring at her feet. She had hoped to be strong around Leon, to keep him from worrying; her barrier was broken, and she felt sheepish. Rube's ruby-tinted hair blew in her face, whirling about her so she resembled Calypso herself. She annoyingly pushed it back, stern lipped. She refused to look at Dagger, for fear of bursting into tears at the emotions she might see in his eyes.

((Heh heh, too bad that isn't the thing he could give her for the...uh...disease >_><_< -cough-))
Jay sauntered up onto the deck, a very nervous Lullaby skittering behind him. "Oh, please, you're being quite foolish, Lieutenant." She squeaked, tugging ever so gently on his sleeve. He waved her away, feverishly stumbling over to the side rail and grabbing onto it just in time to stop himself from collapsing to the ground. "Miss Leeve told me to make sure you stayed in your room! She won't be happy! Lieutenant!"[/b] Lulla cried softly in anxiety. "Murder, murder, murder, murder." Jay was muttering over and over again, gripping the rail so tightly that his knuckles were white.
((Sorry for ruining the happy mood, but I had to join xD; haven't been roleplaying much and I'm bored D'x ))

Cody took one glance at Jay and looked nervously toward Rube, "Maybe I should....go get Emma." Cody said frantically. He quickly raced below the ship, skittering around the corner towards Emma's cabin. He knocked on the door and after a few words with Emma, he was following her as she walked quickly toward Jay.
As Emma reached the man she sighed, glad he hand't done anything that would have caused more problems, "Jay...Jay...JAY!!!" Emma repeated, hoping he might turn around.
((Stupid boy... jk. Stupid man....heehee))

Jay didn't turn around, but Lullaby did, looking pale and frightened. "I'm sorry, Miss Emma!" She squeaked. "He wouldn't listen to me and I- he wouldn't...I was too.." She trailed off and quieted, pressing a hand against her mouth. Jay was leaning over the rail now, still gripping it, breathing heavily and slow. "He did it...he...did it..." He was muttering now, before shaking his head sharply. "NO! It doesn't make...accuracy....don't...accuse..." He lifted one hand, pressing it over his eye and and breathing faster.

Emma's panick striken face looked desperatly around for something that could help her. Seeing no helpful bottle of medicine lying around with the word "cure" on it, she gave up her fantic search and tryed something different. Emma walked over to Jay and spoked to him, trying to mullify him with her voice, "Jay, you need to go back to your cabin. You need to rest. No one...was murdered. There are no...accusations. Just go rest." Emma softly took hold of Jay's arm and tried to lead him back under the deck.
