Leon noticed Ruby flinging the sheets from herself and with his free hand took the rag and dabbed it into the water before wringing it out and carefully wiping and dabbing it over her face. Better? He continued dabbing her face one handed, in the awkward position he was in. But, he did not care, not wanting to let go of Ruby's hand. He leaned down to her and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, whispering in her ear. I love you, you know that?

Rubes sighed blissfully, replying a soft, Yes, thank you. She smiled as he kissed her, and whispered back, I do, I do. Do you know what I love about you, Captain? she asked, her eyes mischievous, yet full of the unwavering affection for him. She adjusted her grip on his fingers, gently rubbing his thumb with her own.

Tilting his head to one side, Leon caught the mischeivious look in her eyes and he gave a wide grin. He kissed against her cheekbone, murmuring wordless noises in her ear. He raised his head to gaze in her eyes, And what would that be? He glanced around the room and muttered softly, My cabin would be much more comfortable for you.

I love your nose. she said, tweaking it slightly with a laugh. She paused for a moment, the impish glow in her eyes departing. So I can get you sick, dearest? she asked in response, though she knew he was right. Emma had provided all the comfort she could offer while taking care of a shipload of people, but Rubes knew that the captain's quarters would trump it. Don't you worry about me.

Leon gave a slight, childish gasp as she tweaked at his nose. He stuck his tongue out at her immaturely. Do i look like I really care? He said pressing his forehead against Rube's. And I always worry...it's my job. He raised himself slightly and looked around. Where are the twins?! He shouted suddenly, in a panic.

Calm yourself, Leon! she exclaimed, laying a cool hand on his arm. Roxy is watching them. Once she had explained, she laughed. And you're so good at your job. she said, pecking his cheek lovingly. That's another reason why I love you; you worry enough for the both of us. So I'm allowed to live free and unburdened! she said, laughing again. Humor and love shone in her bright eyes, two emotions she hadn't felt in several days. But Dagger had brought them back to her.

Leon took in a deep breath. Leaning over her he kissed her deeply on the lips. He gave a sigh as he moved away. I'm afraid I shall have to go, my ship calls. He gave a slight pout to her, the fact her wanted to stay evident on his face.

I love you! she exclaimed, her cheeks pink after his kiss. Good sailing. she wished him, saying a customary sailors goodbye. Her love shone in heart and eyes. She lay back in bed, the sickness returning like an unwelcome friend. She pulled the blankets back up, and fell into a deep but unpleasant sleep, scary dreams that even Dagger could not stop; even in his strength, he could not fight the sleeping demons that awaited Rubes.
